About Dr. Jim Thompson
Before joining UTCVM October 1, 2008, Dr. Jim Thompson served as Executive Associate Dean and Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He also held a joint appointment in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology in the university’s College of Medicine.
A native of Greenville, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Purdue University, Dr. Thompson earned his D.V.M. at the University of Florida in 1981 and his Ph.D. in Immunology and Medical Microbiology from that institution's College of Medicine in 1984. Dr. Thompson is board certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialties of internal medicine and oncology and in the American College of Veterinary Microbiology in the specialties of immunology, bacteriology/mycology, and virology.
