Dr. Maben Thompson '80
Support to UTCVM comes in all shapes and sizes. Recently, that support came in the shape of 95 flat back feed and water buckets to the Large Animal Hospital by Dr. Maben Thompson, ’80 of Crossville, TN. Thompson is the owner of Upper Cumberland Veterinary Hospital, past President of the Tennessee Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and member of the National Cutting Horse Association Executive Committee. The entire Thompson family is comprised of avid equine competitors. Son, Cameron, and daughter, Jordan are both recipients of the World and Reserve World titles for the National Cutting Horse Association.
Dr. Thompson has excelled in practice and enjoys teaching. He adds that it is key to “keep young veterinarians coming to (his) practice.” They bring necessary skills in advanced techniques in orthopedics, internal medicine and soft tissues.
When Thompson learned that the LAH needed buckets, he made arrangements to donate the funds to make the purchase possible. The equine portion of hospital has recently been newly renovated to include state of the art flooring, new cabinets, stall doors and stocks and now looks even more wonderful with the new buckets. Faculty and staff are now looking forward to renovating to the remaining areas, and it’s expansion.
