IN MEMORIUM: Dr. John E. Henton, Professor Emeritus, Equine Reproduction Director, Continuing Education and Alumni Activities

Dr. John Henton passed away on July 22, 2010 from complications resulting from a recent illness. Dr. John, as he was known by veterinary students, planned to retire, along with his wife, Cathy, at summer’s end after more than thirty years of teaching and service in support of the veterinary profession at UTCVM. CVM students, alumni, faculty and staff all came to know Dr. John and Cathy for their selfless dedication to students and life-long learning. Innumerable veterinary students and house officers recall the Henton’s generous ‘touch of home’ care, ranging from sound advice to holiday dinners at the Henton farm. The Henton name is synonymous with student educational opportunities and providing tangible and intangible support and encouragement to ensure student success.

UTCVM has established a veterinary scholarship endowment in tribute to Dr. Henton’s memory and to express our thankfulness for their commitment to veterinary education and their love for the more than one thousand students they’ve known over the past three decades.

If you would like to make a gift in tribute to The Dr. John and Cathy Henton Scholarship Fund please go to http://www.vet.utk.edu/giving (following directions including UTCVM printable gift form) or contact the UTCVM Development Office at 865.974.4379 or cvmdev.@utk.edu
