Avian & Zoological Medicine
The Avian and Zoological Medicine Service, College of Veterinary Medicine, The University of Tennessee, is staffed by board-certified faculty (American College of Zoological Medicine, American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Avian specialty)), residents, and technicians to provide state-of-the-art veterinary care for exotic and zoological species including avian, mammal, reptile, and wildlife patients presented to the Veterinary Medical Center. The service is also responsible for the health care of the animals at the Knoxville Zoological Garden and The American Eagle Foundation.
The UT Veterinary Medical Center is equipped to perform advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures including endoscopy, ultrasound, and laser surgery. As well, the Avian and Zoological Medicine Service works closely with faculty from other specialty services, here at UTCVM, such as radiology, ophthalmology, cardiology, surgery, and neurology to provide the highest level of care for all it's patients.
