How To Help The Blood Bank
Donor Requirements | Tests | Donor Benefits
Are you interested in helping the UTCVM Blood Bank by making a donation? The money you donate will be used to provide toys and treats for our in-house donors and to support the expensive process of screening potential donors for health problems and contagious diseases. The cost of initial screening is approximately $400 per dog and $310 per cat. Each donor is screened annually for metabolic or infectious diseases at a cost of about $350 for dogs and $250 for cats. Thank you for helping us to continue to provide a high quality medical product for dogs and cats across the state. You can help us save lives of our beloved canine and feline companions.
Are you interested in your dog or cat being a blood donor? If they meet the following requirements they may be eligible to be screened as donors. Blood donors should be able to donate at least 4 units of blood every year for a minimum of 3 years. Donations can occur as often as every 4-6 weeks. Contact sabloodbank@mail.ag.vet.edu for more information.
