Coming to a city near you...DHS Training Course Schedule Announced!

 

The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine The Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness (CAFSP) is located at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville,TN. Founded in October of 2006, the Center is dedicated to assisting the nation to protect its critical infrastructure, including agriculture and the food supply. The Center, under the direction of Dr. Sharon Thompson, combines the expertise of University of Tennessee faculty with other institutions across the country to develop and deliver training programs and conduct research related to agroterrorism, biosecurity, foreign animal diseases, and more. New Course Approved! (see attached course agenda)

On July 30, 2009, our new food course was certified by the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA. "FOOD VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT TRAINING COURSE" is now ready for delivery in your community. Terrorists targeting our food facilities could pose a threat if we are unprepared. This course will teach agriculture communities on ways to assess vulnerabilities in food systems/facilities and ways to develop mitigation strategies to increase security.
