The Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness will host a week-long training course on Foreign Animal and Emerging Diseases (FAED) in the Spring of 2009. FAED trainings have been held in Knoxville both in 2005 and 2007. This event is jointly sponsored with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and includes speakers with international expertise on foreign animal and emerging diseases as well as researchers from Plum Island Animal Disease Center.
This training course will provide an excellent opportunity to enhance awareness of foreign animal and emerging diseases for veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and extension agents. Other allied professionals who are responsible for foreign animal disease outbreak control and/or response will find the training beneficial. Individuals in private practice, academia, industry, and government are encouraged to attend. Registration space is limited. Registration information will be made available in the near future.
