DHS / FEMA Awards Center For Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness $5 Million in Grants

The Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness has been selected to receive two new training grant awards through the Competitive Training Grants Program from FEMA/ Department of Homeland Security. Of 11 grants awarded across the country, the Center received two of the 3 year grants, totaling close to 5 million dollars.

 

The first award is to fund a program titled "Training to Enhance Effective and Timely Sharing of Information and Intelligence on the Importation and Transportation of Food, Food Ingredients and Animal Feed in the United States." For more information, please refer to the Executive Summary.

 

The second award is to fund a program entitled "Training to Enhance Regional Collaboration and Utilize the National Credentialing Standards for Animal Emergency Responders to Effectively Manage All Hazards Disaster Response and Recovery." The Center looks forward to continuing its key role to help the nation protect the agriculture and food sectors as part of our nation's critical infrastructure. Additional information on the development of these new training programs will be posted on our website in the near future. These awards coincide with the announcement of the Center's award of additional funds to continue deliveries of its existing DHS course, MGT 332: Agriculture and Food Vulnerability Assessment Training Course.
