Background

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has published the final rule: Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food.

This rule requires carrier personnel (unless specifically exempted by the rule) to complete training related to sanitary transportation practices.

All large carriers must come into compliance with this rule no later than April 6, 2017.

Smaller carriers have until April 6, 2018 to meet the new requirements.

Peer-Reviewed Content

Content for this online course was derived from a course recently developed by CAFSP for the FDA on food transportation. The content went through an extensive peer review process before acceptance by the FDA in late 2016. CAFSP worked with TransComply, manager of the Uniform Food Safety Transportation Protocol (UFSTP), along with several trucking representatives, to review the draft course content prior to finalization to ensure it would meet the transportation industry’s needs.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course is transportation personnel, including carriers, shippers, loaders, and receivers.
