The Equine Medicine Service at The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment modalities in a modern 20,000 square foot hospital.

Diagnostic modalities include video endoscopy (including a 3 meter endoscope for gastroscopy of adult horses), ultrasound, Doppler-flow echocardiography, electrodiagnostics (EMG, NCV, and ABR), diagnostic radiology, and nuclear scintigraphy.

The facilities include 28 stalls, two large mare and foal stalls, two outpatient rooms, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, and a self-contained isolation unit. Furthermore, The Equine Medicine Service has ancillary support from board-certified cardiologists, dermatologists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, radiologists, surgeons, equine chiropractor, and acupuncturist.

To advance the practice of Equine Medicine by promotion of Scholarly activity, education and maintenance of animal health through innovative teaching, research, and clinical service.

Monthly Horse Feature -- Each month the staff of UTCVM's Large Animal group offers informative features on horses.
