UTCVM Fracture Repair
The University of Tennessee is well-equipped to attend to the needs of horses with various orthopedic conditions. State-of-the-art, AO/ASIF implants are available, including the most modern locking compression plates, to repair long bone fractures. Anatomical reconstruction is facilitated by various intraoperative imaging modalities, including digital radiography, high-definition arthroscopy, and fluoroscopy. The Anderson sling enhances smooth recovery from anesthesia for horses at high risk of failure of fracture repair. Our staff is well-trained and well-equipped to perform elective orthopedic procedures, such as arthrodesis to restore limb function and ostectomy to correct angular limb deformity.
