HOSPITAL PAYMENT POLICY
Information on Fee Estimates and Payment
The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine thanks you for choosing our Veterinary Medical Center. To serve you better, we ask that you review the following information on fees and payment. A portion of our budget comes from the State of Tennessee to support teaching, whereas fees charged for services support the operation of the UT Veterinary Medical Center. We make every effort to provide reasonable costs for services, but modern veterinary care can be costly. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds to provide free or low-cost care to our clients. The UT Veterinary Medical Center is regulated by a state "fair competition" clause, and thus our fees are comparable to those of regional specialty private clinics.
Fee Estimates
Following an examination of your animal, the veterinarian in charge will provide an estimate of the approximate cost of services, procedures, tests, drugs and supplies to treat your animal. This fee estimate will reflect only the initial diagnostic and treatment plan and may change, based on your treatment decisions.
Payment
Payment is required at the time of service. If your animal is hospitalized, half of the estimate is due prior to services being provided; the final payment is due when your animal is discharged. Treatment of your animal is determined by your decisions, with consideration of your own financial resources. You have the right to decline any or all treatment suggested for your animal. We accept cash, checks, Master Card, VISA and Discover cards.

Insurance
If your animal is insured, please provide the name of the insurance company at the time of admission. Owners are responsible for payment to U.T.C.V.M. and the insurance company will reimburse the owner.

A dedicated team of people will be working with you and your animal during your visit to our hospital. To receive an updated bill of your animal's treatments and services during the treatment process, please contact one of these team members by calling
