–Refractory cases may require general anesthesia
•Pass cuffed endotracheal tube into esophagus then nasogastric tube
•Lavage with water keeping horses head ventral to facilitate drainage
•Gentle lavage to avoid esophageal rupture
–Surgical Treatment (esophagostomy)
•Only in severe case, stricture likely
