Small Animal Clinical Sciences
RESIDENCY IN SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY
This residency is a three year-program, designed to meet the requirements for board certification by the ACVS. The objective of the program is to train individuals in the didactic and technical aspects of surgery to enter academic veterinary medicine or specialty practice. Residents are mentored by ACVS diplomates trained in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery and by ACVIM diplomates trained in neurosurgery. The three year program includes rotations through radiology, anesthesia, internal medicine, pathology, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, and research. The resident must complete a research project that results in a major surgical publication.
