Immunohistochemistry
A great new diagnostic service is available through the Anatomic Pathology Service at the University of Tennessee. We are now capable of performing Immunohistochemistry on tissue paraffin blocks or on unstained sections mounted on positively charged slides. This service can be utilized to further explore a diagnosis made elsewhere or we can process surgical biopsy material that is likely to require further immunohistochemical staining. The vast majority of our antibodies are for use in tumor diagnostic panels that help to characterize neoplasms. We currently offer a full panel for differentiation of sarcomas (ie. leiomyosarcoma from nerve sheath tumor for example) and round cell tumors (B cell lymphosarcoma vs T cell lymphosarcoma for example) in the canine and feline. We continue to expand our immunohistochemistry availability, our species panels and will pursue infectious organism staining if there is a demand.
