These clinical services are available on a first come, first serve
basis. Each is two weeks in duration, although longer time
periods may be available. Students may participate in one,
two, or three clinical services; however, each clerkship must be
two weeks in duration, with the exception of the Zoological Medicine
clerkship.
Students wishing to participate in the Zoological
Medicine clerkship must first complete the two week clerkship in
Avian, Exotic and Wildlife Medicine at Tennessee. Rotations
begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday and finish on a Monday two weeks later.
Both Zoological Medicine and Avian, Exotic and Wildlife Medicine
share an evening and weekend emergency service.
The rotation
in Laboratory Animal Medicine offers hands-on experience with all
facets of research animal care, including clinical and surgical
techniques, preventive medicine, record keeping, protocol review,
and compliance issues.
