Teaching
As the Director of the Veterinary Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Service Laboratory, I am responsible for coordinating our team of Clinical Pathologists and Medical Technologists. I am the main liaison between the clinical departments and the Clinical Pathology Section. Much of my time is spent describing and interpreting clinical hematology and cytology specimens. With my background in internal medicine, I assist clinicians and students in interpretation of clinical chemistry and urinalysis data. I often consult with practicing veterinarians in the Knoxville area regarding difficult cases. In addition to my service responsibilities, I teach much of the sophomore class in Clinical Pathology and coordinate the Diagnostic Cytology class given during the third year of study. I spend the remainder of my time in collaborative research efforts with clinicians, committee assignments, and speaking at various clinical pathology related continuing education conferences.Research Interests
- Immotile cilia syndrome, clinical and experimental hematology and chemistry, comparative hematology.
