Disaster Animal Response Training Offered

The Knox County Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) will hold a credentialing class Saturday, May 16 for people interested in helping with animals during a disaster. The class is free and will be held in room A118 at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine on the agricultural campus.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the class is from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Those attending will also receive information about the on-line training offered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency necessary to complete the DART credentialing.

DART, a state-wide program of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, is comprised of credentialed people who can enter critical areas during an emergency involving animals. DART members can be veterinarians, veterinary technicians, farmers, and any interested members of the community.
