Public Health Expert to speak about a Vision of Health Care Reform

 

Public health plays a critical role in ensuring a healthy America. In recognition of National Public Health Week (April 6-12), the University of Tennessee Public Health Program and the College of Veterinary Medicine have worked together to bring Dr. Marguerite Pappaioanou, a internationally recognized expert on infectious disease epidemiology, to campus Thursday, April 9.

 

In conjunction with this years national theme of Building the Foundation for a Healthy America, Pappaioanou will discuss Building an Integrated Health Team and a Vision of Health Care Reform. Pappaioanou currently serves as the Executive Director of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges. Previously, she worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 20 years as a veterinary epidemiologist, devoting her career to domestic and international human public health. Pappaionanous unique perspective regarding the publics health has made her a popular speaker internationally.

 

Pappaioanou will speak from 5:00 p.m-6:30 p.m. in room 235 of the H.P.E.R building on the UT campus.   The presentation is free and open to the public.
