Running with the Dogs

KNOXVILLE The 7th annual University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) 5K Fun Run and 1 Mile Dog Jog/costume contest will take place Saturday, November 1 on the UT agriculture campus. 

 

The 5K Run begins at 9:00 a.m. in Lot 66 behind the veterinary college at 2407 River Drive. The route follows Joe Johnson Drive at the veterinary college, crosses the bridge to east campus and loops back to the veterinary college. Medals will be awarded in different age groups and will be divided between male and female categories. 

 

The Dog Jog (or walk) gets underway at 9:15 a.m.  and will loop around the veterinary college. Participants have the option of dressing themselves and/or the dogs in Halloween costumes. Dog food and treats will be given away to the winners.

                                                  

The pre-registration fee through October 25 is $15 for the Fun Run and $15 for the Dog Jog. Those who pre-registered will receive a free t-shirt. Participants can also register for the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. race day. The price increases to $20 the day of the event.  

 

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Young-Williams Animal Center. For more information contact Kristen Hughes . Additional information and registration forms are available  here.
