Veterinary College Offers Conference for Horse Owners

An opportunity for horse owners to learn about their horse inside and out

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) will host Knowing Your Horse Inside and Out Saturday, March 15, 2014. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the conference lasts until 4:25 p.m. The conference will be held in room A118 at the college which is located on the UT agricultural campus at 2407 River Drive, Knoxville, Tn. Tours of the new Equine Hospital and Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center are available immediately following the conference.


The conference is designed for those who have owned horses for years or are new to the horse world. Speakers for the conference include board-certified faculty of the UT Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences and UT Extension. Topics include chronic colic, airway disease, equine hoof myths, color genetics, pregnant mares, first aid, proper nutrition, geriatric equines, and advances in equine rehabilitation.


The fee for the conference is $40 for the first family member and $20 for each additional family member. This fee covers lunch and refreshments.
