Professionalism Week 2006
Making Professionalism Personal
Professional behavior is expected from individuals in veterinary careers and from all those working in a professional organization such as the veterinary college. Although we each may have a different understanding of the term professionalism, there are some common standards reflected in highly professional behavior. This week is designed to bring discussions of professionalism into our daily work lives and to stimulate individual reflection on how one contributes to a professional atmosphere through work, language and action. With a working definition of professionalism, and an internalized commitment to professional behavior, we also hope that individuals will recognize and learn how to create positive, constructive solutions when confronted with behavior that fails to meet these standards.
- To initiate widespread dialogue regarding the professional behaviors expected by members of the UTCVM community.
- To stimulate individual reflection on one's professional behavior and commitment ot the goals of professionalism expected in the health care professions
- To help individuals learn how to create constructive solutions to issues relatied to unprofessional behavior.
