Pretreatment scan of cat with thyroid carcinoma
Pretreatment ventral pertechnetate scintigram of cat with metastatic thyroid carcinoma. Focal radionuclide localizations are seen in the areas of previously excised thyroid lobes (arrows), in the area of the cranial mediastinum (sharp arrow) and in the cervical tissues between the mediastinum and thyroid lobes. Normal uptake is seen within the zygomatic salivary glands (arrowheads).

Posttreatment scan of cat with thyroid carcinoma
Ventral pertechnetate scintigram of a cat with metatstatic thyroid carcinoma following treatment with radioiodine. The focal areas of radionuclide localization previously seen in the regions of the thyroid lobes (arrows) and cranial mediastinum (sharp arrow) are no longer visible or are less apparent. Normal uptake remains within the zygomatic salivary glands (arrowheads).
