Pretreatment scan of dog with thyroid carcinoma

Pretreatment ventral pentechnetate scintigram of a dog with thyoid adenocarcinoma. The left thyroid lobe (large arrow) is enlarged and concentrates the radionuclide. The smaller, normal right thyroid lobe (arrowhead) is seen adjacent to and deviated by the left thyoid mass. Normal nuclide localization is seen in the parotid salivary glands (small arrows).

.

Posttreatment scan of dog with thyroid carcinoma

Posttreatment ventral pertechnetate scintigram of dog with thyroid carcinoma following surgical removal of the thyroid mass and thyroid ablation with radioiodine. Note the abscence of focal nuclide localizatin within the area of the thyoid lobes (long arrows). Normal uptake remains within the parotid salivary glands (short arrows).
