Maureen H. Dunn assumed the position of Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Tennessee Valley Authority on January 2, 2001. She is responsible for advising the Board of Directors on legal matters and serves as Secretary to the Corporation. She also is responsible for TVA’s Federal Government Affairs activities. As head of the Office of the General Counsel and chief law officer of TVA, the General Counsel provides overall policy direction to the work of the office and provides the final review on legal matters of major significance, and conducts all legal proceedings or approves the general course of action to be followed by Assistant General Counsels or staff attorneys in such proceedings. As head of Government Affairs, she is responsible for managing relations between TVA and Congress and other Federal agencies.
Ms. Dunn joined TVA as an attorney in 1978, and assumed the position of Assistant General Counsel in September 1986. In that capacity, Ms. Dunn supervised a staff of attorneys whose legal work with TVA is primarily focused on areas related to employment, labor, tax, and benefit law.
Ms. Dunn received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from LeMoyne College, Syracuse, New York, and her law degree from Catholic University School of Law, Washington, D.C.
Ms. Dunn is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and the District of Columbia.
She is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Hamilton Burnett Inns of Court, the Board of Directors of Ijams Nature Center, and the Board of Directors of Second Harvest Food Bank.
