Meet a Member of our Team: Cassie Meitner

(January 9, 2014  Knoxville, TN) -- We want to introduce you to our team of Licensed Veterinary Medical Technicians one at a time. On a regular basis and in random order, we will post a brief biography and photograph highlighting one of our team members.

Cassie Meitner, LVMT, works in the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine

Meet Cassie Meitner, LVMT. Cassie has been at the University of Tennessee Veterinary Medical Center almost 6 years. Even as a little girl, she loved animals and wanted to take care of them. As soon as she learned she didn't have to be a veterinarian to be able to do that, Cassie pursued that career immediately at Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin.

Describing the best part of her job as 2nd shift nurse in the veterinary medical centers Intensive Care Unit, Cassie says, As simple as it may sound, its the successes of patient care: seeing a painful animal find comfort, a restless animal finally sleep, and of course, seeing the critical one turn the corner to getting better and going home. According to Cassie, the return of a tail wag always makes her smile.

She lives in Oak Ridge with her two cats, Smudge and Jetta, as well as her Doberman-mix named Arthur. Plenty of purrs and tail wags to keep her smiling.
